Corporate Server

Specifications for the core Six2 server.

The core Six2 server must run the following services:

  • ssh server
  • IMAP server (secured with SSL)
  • postfix (secured with SSL)
  • Apache (preferably Apache2)
  • Plone
  • dotProject
  • MySQL server (dependency of dotProject)
  • LDAP server (secured with SSL)
Other optional services that we may want to run on the server:
  • Subversion
  • Trac
  • Openfire (Jabber Chat)
  • Java 1.5+ (dependency of Openfire)
Backup of the server must include the configurations and contents of all servers.  It must also include user home areas.

To estimate the total disk space needed (along with backup):
  • OS: 5 GB
  • Home areas: 5 GB x 10 employees = 50 GB
  • dotProject: 1 GB
  • Plone: 5 GB
  • Subversion/Trac: 5 GB
  • Openfire: 1 GB
  • Mail: 1 GB x 10 employees = 10 GB
This means that the total disk space is around 80 GB; most of which should be backed up.

Standard 10-100 Mb/sec connectivity should provide acceptable response for the listed services.
