SixSq to present Agile Open Forum at ESA/ESOC
On Thursday 11 March 2010, Marc-Elian Bégin from SixSq will be the main speaker at an open forum on the topic of agile methodologies for software development.
Open Forums at ESOC offer opportunities to discuss interesting topics in a relaxed environment. For this event, agile software development will be presented by Marc-Elian, taking inspiration from his experience of a decade working in the space industry, including seven years in Darmstadt, Germany, where ESOC and Eumetsat have their main sites.
Traditionally, ESOC and ESA have followed waterfall and formal development methods. This forum is an opportunity to explore new ways of approaching complex and sometimes mission-critical software development. Are the general criticisms of waterfall and formal methods applicable to ESOC software projects? And can an agile process deliver systems that users really want without compromising the need for high quality? These are some of the topics that are expected to arise during the forum.
