SixSq wins a contract in Space

SixSq wins a contract with Thales Alenia Space on EUMETSAT’s Meteosat Third Generation (MTG).  This phase A study will propose the foundations of the MTG Ground Segment design concept.  MTG, compared with the current Meteosat generation, will produce a much larger amount of data, which in turn will require much larger processing means.  The SixSq team will provide consultancy on technological issues such as Grid computing, large distributed data transfer strategies, Service Oriented Architecture, fabric management, process automation and software integration and test.

This contract provides an excellent opportunity for SixSq to demonstrate its ability to transfer cutting edge knowledge from the fundamental research world (e.g. CERN and LAL/CNRS) to the European industry.

The first MTG satellite is expected to be launched in 2015.  The company is therefore excited to be involved in this important European project at this very early stage.
